Position Summary:

As an integral member of the Supply Chain Team, to assist with the overall material and component purchasing, securing the most favorable pricing and delivery options at all times.  Assist Buyer/Planners in monitoring supplier performance and investigating potential new suppliers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create, execute, and maintain POs as directed by Planner/Buyer ensuring accuracy and on time delivery.
  • Contact suppliers to ensure that all purchase orders were received and that deliveries will ship on time.
  • Notify Planning and Scheduling team in a timely manner if a critical delivery is going to be late.
  • Execute daily triggers against blank orders with suppliers.
  • Manage open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and expedite orders as necessary via the PO log.
    • Purchase order reconciliation on a quarterly basis. (Closing of old PO’s, etc.).
    • Utilize 10-day board for past due items and items needed in house by a specified date to avoid interruption in production.
  • Component review and ordering for Ag, Warehouse (Satellite) and Molded Solutions based on requirements in extracts.
  • Work with the Planner/Schedulers to regen and review the MRP in WWERP.
  • Extract updates: Add new items to the John Deere extract as parts are created by the Engineering Department.
  • Administer, prepare, and distribute, shop order and pick tickets and manage production work/wait boards.
  • Setup and maintain Kanban cards for shop supplies and MRO items.
  • Investigate and resolve differences in order quantity and quantity received.
  • Monitor price changes and alert Director of Supply Chain and Planner/Buyer of any changes.
  • With Planner/Buyers monitor supplier performance for delivery, quality and cost management.
  • Maintain supplier scorecards and evaluations.
  • Identify potential new suppliers.
  • Maintain planning Gantt charts as directed by Planner/Buyer.

Minimum Level of Education/Training/Experience Required:

  • Associates degree and 2+ years of experience or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Previous Experiences

  • At least two years’ experience in purchasing raw materials within a vertically integrated manufacturing company.
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing methods (e.g., Kaizen, Kanban, JIT, POU stock, Pull System Production, etc.).

Human Resource Generalist

Position Summary:

The Human Resource Generalist is a purposeful, collaborative individual who will serve as the frontline human resource contact (HR) to all team members—fostering an inclusive and positive culture. This position provides HR support in areas including but not limited to talent acquisitions, onboarding, payroll, company policies and procedures; benefits, WC, performance management, and leaves of absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a full-cycle recruitment process to ensure a smooth experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
  • Facilitate onboarding and new hire orientation processes.
  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll for all Hampel team members.
  • Provide education and coaching to employees and team leads relating to payroll, time reporting and collection, benefits, and company policies.
  • Maintain team member’s annual performance appraisal process.
  • Serve as the primary focal point for the administration of medical, dental, vision, and other insurance benefits for active employees.

Team Lead

Position Summary:

Supervise and direct activities for production departments in accordance with established company goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.  The position is directly accountable and responsible for all facets of production as they relate to meeting company objectives.

Maintenance Tech 2

Shift Openings:

  • 3rd shift/Sunday-Thursday, 11:00pm-7:00am with overtime
  • 2nd shift/Monday-Friday, 3:00pm-11:00pm with overtime

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Tech 2, under limited supervision and with limited technical guidance is responsible for mechanical equipment and machinery ensuring limited production downtime whenever possible. In addition, the Maintenance Tech 2 diagnoses machinery components and determines if and when adjustments or repairs are required.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems during production and repair as needed. After repair is completed, check repaired item for proper operation.
  • Ensure that production equipment is maintained in a safe and secure manner.
  • Repair of all production equipment on assigned shift.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with written procedures.
  • Estimate time and extent of repairs.
  • Promote teamwork by demonstrating a spirit of collaboration and cooperation on projects with other shifts and departments striving to meet objectives.
  • Respond timely to urgent issues causing production downtime, reductions in production efficiency or causing a safety concern.
  • Complete projects/priorities according to schedule, as assigned.
  • Ensure that all production machinery and equipment is performing safely and correctly, with parameters designed.
  • Proactively address unsafe conditions, eliminating the potential for the similar situation to occur again.
  • Support Engineering, Tool Room, Machine Technicians, and Team Leaders as needed.
  • Accurate and timely completion of Maintenance Incident Reports.
  • Assist in the training and guidance of a Tech 1.
  • Look into ways of improving machine uptime.
  • Completing more involved repairs as needed with little supervision and guidance.

Minimum Level of Education/Training/Experience Required:

  • 3 – 10 years in manufacturing maintenance role.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in troubleshooting/repairs of production equipment including: pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to operate, inspect, and repair air and electric power hand tools.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance tasks on industrial machinery (grease, inspect, oil, tighten, etc. various components including bearings, chains, belts, filters, and etc.).
  • Basic blueprint reading including understanding tolerances.
  • Basic plumbing skills (sweat copper pipe and fittings, cut/thread steel pipe and fittings, cut/glue PVC pipe and fittings).
  • Intermediate electrical skills (install and troubleshoot single phase and three phase distribution circuits).
  • Intermediate understanding in Machining and fabrication (be able to use drill presses, grinders, milling machinery and lathes, etc.) 
  • Ability to weld steel and aluminum. 
  • Ability to fabricate components from written and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial machinery at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to calibrate CNC trimming equipment.
  • Ability to be forklift certified.

License or Certificate Required

  • Forklift driver certificate (Hampel provides on-site training).

  • Bloodborne pathogen certified.

Extrusion Assistant

Position Summary:

The Extrusion Assistant will perform production activities by stacking extruded sheet, assisting the Extrusion Operator and operating necessary equipment and tools. The Extrusion Assistant will assist the Extrusion Operator in following the production schedule and making sure all supplies needed for production runs are available. In addition, the Extrusion Assistant will be able to communicate quality issues, complete daily required documentation, report machine and tool malfunctions and ensure good production of quality sheet. This is a full time, hourly position that performs work under the Extrusion Operator with final approval by the Shift Team Lead.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Load, unload or stack materials or extruded sheet.
  • Collect and process edge trim as required.
  • Help start-up line.
  • Assist Extrusion Operator as necessary.
  • Verify packaging is in compliance with product specifications.
  • Maintain good packing of the sheet, legible packaging labels, and neat records.
  • Ensure that sheets are properly labeled as to thickness, size and color.
  • Monitor the sheet appearance to ensure highest quality, to include an optical inspection, masking application, saw cut, sheet dimension, stacking and package appearance.
  • Maintain gauge, set knives/shear, and identify cold and hot sheets in the extrusion process.
  • Identify defective products in the extrusion process and follow the QC procedure for non-conforming sheets.
  • Perform all quality inspections with accuracy.
  • Measure, weigh or count finished extruded sheet or materials.
  • Move materials or extruded sheet between work areas.
  • Complete daily reports and other production documentation as required.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with all department employees.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times.
  • Use all required safety supplies and procedures at all items.
  • Perform orientation tests.
  • Operate forklift.

Minimum Level of Education/Training Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills required.
  • Knowledge in plastics and extrusion preferred.
  • Ability to use and read calipers, tape measure, micrometer and velocity gauge.

Hours:

Start-up: the initial standard shift will be Monday - Friday from 7am to 5pm (estimated 8-10-hour days).

The first quarter of 2021 this position will transition into 12-hour shifts.

Extrusion Machine Operator 

Position Summary:

The Extrusion Operator is responsible for the processing of plastic product into sheets. The Extrusion Operator will perform production activities by operating an extruder and other relevant equipment. The Extrusion Operator will follow a production schedule, make sure all supplies needed for production runs are available and operate the extruder generally unassisted. In addition, the Extrusion Operator will be able to communicate quality issues, complete daily required documentation, report machine malfunctions and ensure good production of quality sheet. This is a full time, hourly position that performs work under the Shift Team Lead with final approval by the Extrusion Team Lead.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate sheet extruder and ancillary equipment.
  • Adjust and calibrate the blending equipment to ensure proper blend of material components.
  • Blend colors at correct let down ratios.
  • Ensure a steady supply of plastic products (virgin resin, regrind and color) are delivered to the extruder by monitoring the flow of plastic components as required.
  • Change dies, screws, rolls and dialups on the extruder.
  • Understand and program Welex gauging systems.
  • Understand and operate all heat, feed, cooling, trimming and grinding systems.
  • Set and monitor temperatures on the die and zones in the extruder.
  • Take instrument readings on extruder and make adjustments as required.
  • Change filters and screens on the extruder.
  • Set up and operate the roll-stand equipment
  • Set the temperature on the roll and adjust speeds as required per product specifications.
  • Complete job/color changes with minimal scrap.
  • Match and distinguish colors from samples.
  • Maintain product specifications by performing quality checks using calipers, tape measures, and velocity gauge.
  • Measure all sheet for correct dimensions and gauge.
  • Make proper adjustments to correct any issues identified during QA checks.
  • Ensure that extruded sheet has no defects and meets quality standards.
  • Diagnose minor production problems and recommend corrective action to Extrusion Shift or Maintenance Team Leads.
  • Perform all shift change responsibilities as required.
  • Verify packaging is in compliance with product specifications.
  • Complete daily reports and other production documentation as required.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with all department employees.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times.
  • Use all required safety supplies and procedures at all items.
  • Perform quality testing as needed: orientation tests, melt index tests, color tests, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to independently setup the extrusion machine using established protocols.
  • Ability to operate the extrusion machines including temperature settings, and other controls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments to the temperature and line speed of machinery to maintain acceptable product quality.
  • Ability to use calipers, tape measures, velocity gauge and other tools as required.

Minimum Level of Education/Training Required:

  • HMWPE extrusion is a plus
  • High School diploma or equivalent, required

Minimum Experience Required:

  • 2 years of experience in a plastic extrusion related environment, preferred.

Hours:

  • Keep accurate records and entries in the data collection system, QC reports and Day By the Hour Reports.
  • Contributes continuous improvement ideas regularly.
  • Operate CNC/robotic trimming equipment safely including stopping/starting machines.
  • Capable of independent operation of all thermoforming machines.
  • Capable of being trained on the startup and shut down procedures on all thermoformers.
  • Setup single sheet jobs on thermoformers with minimal supervision.
  • Makes small adjustments to the thermoforming process to bring process under control with tech direction.
  • Reads and interprets basic part drawings including tolerances.
  • Participate and promote 5S procedures and practices.

Experience working with large machinery is preferred.

Part-Time Student Machine Operator

Position Summary:

The Student Machine Operator position will offer insight on manufacturing processes, robotics, production tooling and machining. This position requires a commitment of 12-15 hours/week during school and the potential for full-time hours during summer months. Hampel offers flexible hours that accommodate class schedules. Hours are mutually agreed upon by Hampel and prospective student worker, at the time of hiring.

Essential Functions

  • Perform general manufacturing tasks in the designated manufacturing department(s) assigned
