SteelSpan

This unique Hampel process is the “in press” encapsulation of a steel wire form or other lightweight custom shape into the plastic. The resulting marriage of steel and plastic provides a structural component with the tensile and compressive strengths of steel at the weight of plastic. This process is best typified by Hampel’s SteelSpan pallet which is capable of straddling an open rack with a 3,500 lb. load, yet it weighs only 40 pounds.

Deep Draw

When the area's ratio of the fully molded part is more than two times the area of the flat, unmolded sheet, the part is defined as Deep Draw. At a 2:1 draw ratio, the finished part thickness of a 1/4” unmolded sheet will be drawn to half of its original thickness or 1/8”. Although many of Hampel’s contract customers’ parts are deep drawn such as the tree bailer in the photos, the Calf- Tel is the best example of this process. With a draw ratio of 3:1, the roughly 3/8” thick starting sheet is drawn down to 1/8” finished thickness.

Twin-Sheet Forming

Twin-Sheet Forming is an “in the press” marriage of two sheets of plastic by fusion to create a double walled or hollow part. Twin sheet forming is employed for many parts as illustrated in the pallet deck picture (right), but is best typified by the doors on Hampel’s portable restrooms.

Multi Component Assembly & Adhesive Bonding

Many of the products Hampel produces are made from multiple components. Either adhesively bonded or mechanically fastened, Hampel’s assemblies can be structurally reinforced, hinged, labeled or packed so they are ready for the assembly line or to be shipped direct to the final customer.

High Gloss Parts or Assemblies

Hampel provides color-matched parts with an "automotive" look and feel utilizing UV resistant, long-life materials from Aristech, GE, Solarkote and others.

Fulfillment

Whether Hampel’s customer is a “sales only” or “assembly only” operation, Hampel serves as its manufacturing partner. Hampel provides packaging, warehousing, EDI, barcoding, logistics or any other function necessary to meet the customer’s needs.

Multiple Materials

Hampel has extensive experience with many materials including Polyethylene, Filled PE, ABS, PC, Styrene, and many other Engineered Plastics.

Encapsulation

Hampel can encapsulate studs, threaded inserts or other shapes into a molded part.

Large size

Hampel is capable of forming large parts up to 7’ by 11’.
